Handspun wool from local flocks, and from merino. Natural hand-dyed wool. Handspun and knitted neck warmers and socks, and other hand knitted items.
Hello, my name is Kat. I was born in Gloucester, and it was there that my mother taught me to knit when I was about 6 years old. After I moved to Essex, I took stands at Greenwich Market and Covent Garden market, selling children’s knitwear and hand-knitted cuddly toys.
Since moving to Arran in 2017, I started hand-dyeing using local flora (and other natural plant-stuff, like brazilwood and logwood). Most recently, I was taught to spin my own yarn in June 2023 – by Alison Barr, who is artist number 3. I’d be delighted to welcome you into my home during Open Studios, where you might find me spinning, dyeing or knitting. A selection of my handspun yarn, plus handspun and hand-knitted items, along with handdyed yarn, will be available to purchase.
My husband I also own and run Bay Wool & Crafts in Whiting Bay, where you’ll be able to find a wider range of my own hand-knitted products, plus Steve’s photo canvases, and a range of products from over 35 other local artists.
